UK Queen consort in Bengaluru for wellness treatment

India is increasingly turning into one of the preferred destinations for authentic global wellness treatment. The latest celebrity to come calling to the Asian nation is none other than the UK Queen consort Camilla.

The 75-year-old wife of King Charles 111, escorted by members of Royalty and Specialist Protection, an elite force of Scotland Yard, flew in at the Bengaluru airport the other day on her way to Soukya, a residential holistic Ayurvedic healthcare center near Whitefield on the outskirts of the metropolis.

“She is undergoing a week-long Ayurveda and naturopathy course. The treatment started on Friday morning and will continue till Thursday next. This is her eighth visit to the center since her first trip back in 2010,” the DH quoted a source as saying.

Soukya is founded by Dr. Issac Mathai, an expert in holistic treatment who has been the British royal family’s health consultant for over 15 years. King Charles celebrated his 71st birthday with Camilla in 2019 at the integrated medical facility spread over 30 acres.

Her visit comes over a week after Friedrich Christian Flick (78), the grandson of Friedrich Flick, who helped the Nazi regime by providing weapons and money, arrived in Kerala to undergo Ayurvedic treatment.

Former Chelsea Manager Thomas Tuchel too landed in Kochi last week to undergo rejuvenation at an Ayurveda center in Thrissur, the state’s cultural capital.
