8th Ayurveda Day celebrations to explore the potential for the well-being of plants and animals alongside humans

The 8th Ayurveda day falls on 10th November, 2023. As part of it, the Ministry of Ayush has unveiled a month-long celebration drive intending to explore the potential of Ayurveda in promoting the well-being of not only human beings but also that of the environment, plants, and animals.

"The theme chosen is 'Ayurveda for One Health'. This is in alignment with the theme of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’. It carries the tagline ‘Ayurveda for everyone on every day’ focusing on the human-animal-plant-environment interface," said Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister of Ayush.

"By capitalizing on the potential of Ayurveda, the science of holistic healing and healthy living, a revolution can be brought in the field of healthcare”, the minister said.

Month-long celebrations have been planned on a pan-India level to sensitize students, farmers, and the public to Ayurveda. Various programs will be conducted to generate awareness among people about the potential role of Ayurveda in the prevention and treatment of various health issues.

The theme has been selected with a focus on promoting agro-Ayurveda among three main strata: farmers, students, and the public. It involves a spectrum of areas centered around sustainable agriculture, humans, animals, plants, forests, aquaculture health, food safety, etc.

The month-long Ayurveda campaign will include exhibition-cum-expo at Ayurveda institutes, medical camps, and public awareness lectures among others. Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Science (CCRAS) under the Ayush Ministry will be the coordinating agency for these programs along with its 30 units spread across the country.
