Minister inaugurates first Ayush Aushadhi Kendra at AIIA New Delhi Campus

President Draupadi Murmu launched the Ayush Aushadhi Pharmacy Programme as part of the inauguration of the 8th Foundation Day celebration of All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in New Delhi on Wednesday. Following this, Prataprao Jadhav, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Ayush inaugurated the first Ayush Aushadhi Kendra in India at AIIA New Delhi Campus on the same day.

The Minister said that the Ministry of Ayush has initiated “Ayush Aushadhi Kendra” to provide authentic and affordable Ayurvedic medicines to rural areas. Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the event, Prataprao Jadhav revealed that the ministry aims for a wellness revolution through these Ayush medicine shops, which will be established across the country over the next three years.

"Ayush medicine shops would be set up at the tehsil level across the country, offering a range of Ayurvedic, Homeopathic, and Unani medicines to make traditional medicines more accessible at the grassroots level. The establishment of these medicine shops would lead to a health revolution by promoting preventive healthcare," said Jadhav.

In addition to promoting traditional medicine, the ministry also plans to encourage the large-scale cultivation of Ayurvedic medicinal plants and herbs, said the minister. “The commercial cultivation of these plants would not only support public health but also contribute to the well-being of farmers. These medicinal plants will be crucial in ensuring health and well-being across the country," he added.

Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that 10 new Ayurveda Institutes will be opened in the country in the next five years, said Jadhav. He also expressed his gratitude towards President Droupadi Murmu for her unwavering support towards Ayurveda and for efforts to uplift the entire AYUSH community.
