A simple tip to boost your memory power

Memory power is a unique and amazing quality of the brain. Our experiences, whether sweet or bitter, are fed as memories, and we could recollect them as and when we want without being lost in passaging time.

As life gets stressful and fast-paced, forgetfulness can happen, but for some, the frequency can be frustrating. Here is a simple step to enhance the memory power, which can be practiced by all, irrespective of the age factor.

We can call it ‘Dainamdina dhyanam'

So, how to practice this meditation? All it takes is just five minutes and is ideal to practice at bedtime.

Sit straight or lie in the bed with your eyes closed. Now try to remember all your activities during the day in a sequential manner. This is very important. For instance, I woke up at 6 am. Then I went to the washroom, brushed my teeth, etc.

We should try to go into minute details, like the colour of the brush or the like. Don’t be disheartened if you couldn’t remember at first. Continue the process, what food you had for breakfast. You can recollect with whom you shared your breakfast with, the topic of discussion, etc. Similarly, move over to lunchtime, tea time, evening prayers, and finally the present moment before going to sleep.

If you are a working person, hark back to the happenings at your working place, or the events at school if you are a student.

As you continue to practice this day after day, you realize that your observation power has enhanced. You will be automatically more conscious about the surrounding happenings. Finally, it results in an improvement of your memory power.
