Ayurveda drugs on display at Indo-US wellness summit

India’s Yoga has already caught global attention and now it is Ayurveda’s turn to go global. It has been noted that a large number of Indian companies participated in the three-day Indo-US wellness summit which took place from June 22 to June 24, 2018 at California’s Saint Clara Convention Centre. Other America wellness companies too were there. Some of the Indian companies that participated include Kairali Ayurveda, Dabur, and AIMIL Pharma.

By now it is well-known that Ayurvedic and natural drugs were fast catching the attention of Americans. In America, Indian Ayurveda and herbal products are not considered just as medicines but these are finding popularity as health and food supplements, according to Indian origin New York-based Bhagwati Bhattacharya.

This wellness summit was also an opportunity for India to prove its credentials in Ayurveda. Besides  showcasing different products related to Ayurveda, Yoga, herbal and natural medicine, the participants also reached out to global leaders by presenting the efficacy of Ayurvedic products. Though the event was organised by an American agency,  Union Ayush Ministry had also chipped in with  their support.

“Usually, diabetes drugs are first developed by developed countries and then sold in India. However, this is for the first time that we are showcasing indigenously- developed anti-diabetic drug to the world”, an official said.

The summit also discussed “Wellness and its pursuit” in accordance with India’s traditional practices.
