India Steps Up Ebola Checks at Airports, Issues Travel Advisory

India has strengthened health screening and surveillance measures at airports after concerns over the spread of Ebola in some African countries. The government has issued a health advisory for travellers arriving from affected regions.

According to health officials, passengers coming from or travelling through countries such as the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan will face increased monitoring at airports and other entry points.

Officials confirmed that no Ebola cases have been reported in the country so far. Health experts has informed the public that Ebola spreads through direct contact with infected blood or body fluids and not through the air.

Travellers have been advised to immediately report symptoms such as fever, vomiting, diarrhoea, headache, weakness, sore throat, muscle pain, or unexplained bleeding to airport health authorities. People who have been in contact with suspected or confirmed Ebola patients must inform officials on arrival too.

The government has stated anyone developing symptoms within 21 days after reaching India should seek medical help immediately and share their recent travel history with doctors.

As a precaution, India has strengthened screening, isolation facilities, laboratory testing, and emergency response systems at airports, seaports, and land borders.

Authorities said the steps are preventive measures aimed at keeping travellers safe and preventing any possible spread of the disease in India.
