7500 Ayurveda clinics in Kerala to provide immunity boosting treatment

Kerala was among the first Indian states to utilize Ayurveda for prevention and mitigation of Covid-19. Now nearly 7500 Ayurveda clinics are being set up in the southern state where practicing physicians will provide free consultation to the public as part of immunity enhancement treatment.

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has tied up with noted Ayurvedic institutions and various bodies like the Ayurvedic Medicine Manufacturers Organisation of India, Ayurveda Hospital Management Association and the Ayurveda Medical Association of India to roll out the initiative.

“All these clinics will follow a common treatment protocol and the information will be documented. These documents will be later compiled and handed over to the government to facilitate a scientific study,” said Dr P M Varier, Chief Physician, Kottakal Arya Vaidya Sala, and also the Convenor, CII Ayurveda Panel.

More than 6000 Ayurveda medical shops and 1500 Ayurveda clinics have consented to set up the chain of Immunity clinics.

“Treatment will be provided thrice a week at these clinics. The doctors will provide free consultation and the tele medicine facility will also made available,” said D Ramanathan, General Secretary, AMMOI.

“This will help in creating awareness among people about Ayurveda as an effective means in enhancement of immunity. Such a system will make Ayurveda system of medicine more popular and acceptable since it will have a common protocol and scientific evidence in the long-run. Besides, it results in huge employment opportunities and help in revival of the sector,” he said.

Meanwhile, the CII has set up a website http://ayurvedacommunity.org/ to help people connect with nearest Ayurveda clinics and medical shops.
