Ayurveda economy in India valued at USD 43 billion’



The Indian Ayurveda economy is valued at USD 43 billion currently, said Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Ayush Ministry Secretary.

He was speaking at the two-day Kerala Health Tourism and Global Ayurveda Summit and Expo 2025, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) from October 30 in Kochi.

Kotecha said Ayurveda and traditional healthcare systems are on the cusp of a major transformation and are projected to contribute five per cent to India’s GDP by 2047, up from the current 1.1 per cent.

Kotecha named Kerala as a model for the rest of the country. Union Minister of State for Ayush, Prataprao Jadhav, attested to his words in a virtual address, highlighting Kerala’s excellence in both Ayurveda care and treatment infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Kerala Industries Minister P Rajeeve outlined government efforts to position Kerala as a premier global healthcare and wellness destination. He detailed ongoing initiatives to integrate Ayurveda with modern medical systems and establish Kerala as a holistic health hub.
