Immense Potential for Ayurveda in Almaty

Ayurveda has good potential in Almaty, Kazhakstan as seen from the response at the two-day Ayurveda & Organic Expo 2025, Almaty, Kazhakstan that ended on September 12.

Regulators, trade facilitators and industry voices came together at the Bakshasaray Event Venue. Sessions ranged from Kazakhstan’s regulatory pathways and Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) standards to clinical validation, India-Kazakhstan collaboration, import channels and quality certification.

A highlight was Ambassador YK Sailas Thangal’s address on the scope of Ayurveda, even drawing lines from classical texts—an elegant nod to tradition meeting policy.

Former Ambassador of India to Kazakhstan Dr TV Nagendra Prasad in his address reinforced India–Kazakhstan opportunities in Ayurveda and wellness. Over 1,500 people including citizens, doctors, distributors, tour operators, and a few institutional buyers visited the stalls.

The demand for pain management and wellness retreat is growing. However, Russian (and some Kazakh) support would help improve adoption—across clinic, content, packaging and follow‑ups.

Most people wanted to know about Panchakarma, whether vegetarian menu was mandatory for healing, India visit, safety comfort, hygiene, language and support for women travellers. Many Indian companies focused on exports to Kazakhstan—herbal, Ayurveda on organic lines.

A newly opened Almaty Ayurveda Centre expressed interest in clinical collaboration—indicative of a nascent but earnest local ecosystem at the expo in which Ayurveda and Health Tourism was the media partner.
