India all set to celebrate International Day of Yoga, 2025

India is gearing up to celebrate the tenth anniversary of International Day of Yoga (IDY) on June 21, 2025, with a special theme of `Yoga for One Earth, One Health’.

For the past ten years India has been celebrating the event annually to raise awareness on yoga’s significance in improving the overall health and wellbeing of the people. Mass demonstrations are usually held on the day to propagate the benefits of yoga, which has become a part of primary healthcare programmes at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs.

The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and the Ministry of AYUSH have given instructions for observing `Yoga Sangam’ on the designated day. All medical colleges and institutions under the administration of National Medical Commission have been requested to observe Yoga Sangam on June 21.

The government has provided a pre-event registration facility on the Ministry of AYUSH’s official yoga portal to encourage the event organisers to register their programmes and share details with pictures on the portal. A dedicated link has been provided by the ministry offering access to publicity collaterals, banners and other promotional materials.

In the run-up to the IDY 2025, many events have been held in India and other countries, targeted at increased participation. As per the Ministry of AYUSH, around 24 crore individuals participated in IDY 2024. Efforts are being made for a larger engagement with one lakh yoga events proposed to be held simultaneously under Yoga Sangam on June 21. The Prime Minister will lead the celebration from Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.
