The Indian government must embark on a transformative mission to revolutionize the healthcare landscape through Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs), says Farhat Jamal, Chairman of the IMC Travel Tourism and Hospitality Committee. 

By harnessing the potential of PPPs, the Indian government can leverage the private sector's capital and expertise to catapult the nation's medical prowess to new heights. This collaborative approach holds immense promise in driving innovation, fostering research and development, and attracting top-notch medical professionals from around the world.

The government has already launched the visionary 'Heal in India' campaign recognizing the escalating demand for holistic healing of lifestyle diseases such as diabetes. The ancient practices, falling under the ambit of the Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy (AYUSH) Ministry, hold immense potential to provide comprehensive wellness solutions to people worldwide.

Additionally, AYUSH centers have been formally accredited, solidifying their status within the Indian medical industry. This strategic move not only lends credibility to these practices but also paves the way for fruitful partnerships between the public and private sectors. 

However, there is still the need to work towards building credibility through the best global medical accreditations, provide transparent and effective communication, reduce huge price anomalies for similar treatments across hospitals, and most importantly implementation of a robust medical tourism policy at the centre and state level, he said.
