Justice for Ayurveda!

Ayurveda is going places, literally. The latest is the Supreme Court of India. On Thursday, the Chief Justice of India Justice D.Y. Chandrachud inaugurated ‘The Ayush Holistic Wellness Centre’ on the premises of the Supreme Court of India in the presence of Ayush Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Minister of State for Ayush Dr. Munjpara Mahendrabhai along with other judges of the Supreme Court.

On the occasion, Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud surprised everyone by openly supporting the Ayurvedic way of life to ensure holistic wellness.

“I am a proponent of Ayurveda and holistic lifestyle. We must look at a holistic pattern of living, not just for the judges and their immediate families but for the staff members too," the CJI said.

Chief Justice Chandrachud also revealed how efforts were initiated to open an Ayush center at Supreme Court premises ever since taking over as CJI. The goal was finally realized in collaboration with the All-India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) under the Ministry of Ayush.

“This is a satisfying moment for me. I have been working on this ever since I took over as CJI.  I am deeply grateful to all the doctors of All India Institute Ayurveda for this,” the Chief Justice said.

Opening an Ayush center on the premises of the Supreme Court is a no-brainer. For the judges to hear the numerous cases, most of which have lasting impacts on the very fabric of the country, they must do so with sound body and mind. Ayush is the best way to ensure that.

The Ayush Holistic Wellness Centre in the Supreme Court premises is a state-of-the-art facility providing holistic care addressing physical, mental, and emotional well-being, promoting the overall health of the Judges and staff of the Supreme Court of India.

History will mark this as a momentous occasion in the rise of traditional medicine in modern India. The Prime Minister and the President, and now the Chief Justice of the country have openly come out in the support of Ayurvedic way of life. With the leaders of the country talking the path and walking it at the same time, it is inevitable for the general public to follow suit.

Ayurveda is going places, and the world is watching.
