The Indian Ayurveda economy is valued at
USD 43 billion currently, said Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Ayush Ministry Secretary.
He was speaking at the two-day Kerala
Health Tourism and Global Ayurveda Summit and Expo 2025, organised by the
Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) from October 30 in Kochi.
Kotecha said Ayurveda and traditional
healthcare systems are on the cusp of a major transformation and are projected
to contribute five per cent to India’s GDP by 2047, up from the current 1.1 per
cent.
Kotecha named Kerala as a model for the
rest of the country. Union Minister of State for Ayush, Prataprao Jadhav, attested
to his words in a virtual address, highlighting Kerala’s excellence in both
Ayurveda care and treatment infrastructure.
