How to Deal with Dengue Fever?

Monsoon is here in its full swing and apart from enjoying the pitter-patter of the rains, this season is accompanied by bacterial and viral infections along with mosquito-borne ailments like dengue and malaria. Here are a few suggestions on what to do to prevent the attack of dengue among your loved ones or people in your family.

  • Unhygienic conditions like accumulated/stagnant water should be avoided as this is the favourite breeding ground for mosquitoes.
  • Places of water storage like water cooler should be cleaned on a regular basis or atleast once a week.
  • Put 2tsp of kerosene or petrol can be put into 100 litres of stagnant water to prevent mosquitoes from breeding.
  • Use mosquito net especially to prevent children from getting their bites. Mosquito repellents are also useful in children to prevent bites.
  • While going to bed, it is recommended that both children and adults should wear long-sleeved dresses to prevent mosquitoe bites.
  • Any source that collects water like tyres and broken pots should be discarded.
  • Screens on doors and windows should be used to prevent entry of mosquito.
  • The spray worker can be asked to spray properly near and around adjoining areas where mosquitoes are likely to breed. .
  • Aerosol and liquid spray can be used to decrease the number of mosquities.
  • Water should be removed from flower on alternate day.
