Ayurveda, yoga cures depression

A World Health Organisation (WHO) study done two years back declared India as one among the most depressed nations in the world. In the same year, President Ram Nath Kovind warned of a potential “mental health epidemic” in India. Though the number of people suffering from depression is significantly high, such issues are often stigmatized and looked down upon.

Ayurveda holds the secret to cure depression in the most natural way. It recommends a few ways of countering depression by treating the causes in the form of Yoga and intake of organic herbs and therapies.

Yoga helps dealing with depression and its symptoms, such as difficulty concentrating or loss of energy. It increases the Serotonin levels in the body. This is known as the happy hormone and plays a major role in happiness. Yoga also increases the heart rate variability (HRV), or changes in time between heartbeats, by increasing the relaxation response over the stress response in the body.
